Speculation rises over NYC mayor-elect's choice for schools chancellor

There is a great deal of speculation surrounding who New York City's Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio will appoint as chancellor of the city's public-school system. The short list reportedly includes one former and one current superintendent in Maryland and possibly Randi Weingarten, who led the city's United Federation of Teachers union before taking over as president of the American Federation of Teachers.
