Grokster agrees to close down

In what constitutes a symbolic end to a difficult chapter in the spat over illegal file-swapping, Grokster has agreed to shutter its copyright-infringing service and pay $50 million to plaintiffs in a lawsuit against it. Grokster has indicated that it may be reborn as a legitimate file-sharing service, a la Napster.
