U.S. chemical industry lost 1,200 jobs in October

The number of jobs in the U.S. chemicals and plastics industries each fell 0.1% in October from the month before as the country posted its highest unemployment rate in 26 years at 10.2%, according to the Labor Department. More than 82,000 jobs have reportedly been lost in the chemicals sector worldwide since the economic downturn started in September 2008.
