Sheila Bair, chairwoman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., said regulators need to collect additional data on mortgage documents to resolve the foreclosure issues that are threatening to hinder the housing market. "There is still more important information to be gathered," Ms. Bair said. "I do have a concern that the problems will slow down even further the foreclosure process." Ms. Bair also said that stricter bank capital requirements will help prevent regulatory arbitrage.
