Bryce Blair, chairman and CEO of AvalonBay Communities, is the newly elected chair for NAREIT. The association announced his position as well as other 2011 officers. It also announced changes to its bylaws and a move of its state of incorporation from Massachusetts to the District of Columbia. Other NAREIT officers for 2011 include Donald C. Wood, president and CEO of Federal Realty Investment Trust who will be first vice chair; W. Edward Walter, president and CEO of Host Hotels & Resorts as second vice chair; and treasurer Ronald L. Havner Jr., vice chairman, president and CEO of Public Storage. NAREIT has also adopted new bylaws, one of which assigns governing authority to a 15-member executive board.
