Penny-pinching regulators are stifling wind sector, experts warn

A growing number of wind-power projects are struggling to sell their energy as governments refuse to approve deals that would lead to even slight increases in consumers' electricity bills. That's shortsighted, industry groups say, since it will stifle the sector's growth and ultimately reduce consumers' options. "They have to look for the ratepayers' long-term interest, not just the bills this year," says Michael Polsky of wind-farm operator Invenergy.
