U.S. spill panel will seek subpoena power from Congress

Gulf spill presidential-panel members plan to request subpoena power from Congress during the lame duck session, said former Democratic Sen. Bob Graham, a co-chairman of the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling. Should lawmakers approve the request, the panel would give its chief counsel, Fred Bartlit, sufficient time to complete his probe, Graham added.
