House members oppose budget cuts for critical access hospitals

The debt reduction supercommittee should protect critical access hospitals as they assess recommendations for finding $1.5 trillion in savings under the Budget Control Act, according to a bipartisan group of representatives. "These hospitals frequently serve as an anchor for their region's health-related services, providing the structural and financial backbone for physician practice groups, health clinics and post-acute and long-term care services," the group said in a letter. The committee has until Thanksgiving to release its budget proposals.
