How to get better treatment from the boss

More than 10% of employees have noticed a co-worker getting preferential treatment from the boss in the past year, a study shows. If you're annoyed by a boss' pet, experts recommend becoming more proactive about touting your own accomplishments. "The more details you tell your boss about your accomplishments, the less chance someone else can take credit for your efforts. When you hide yourself, you make others stand out," says Joel Garfinkle, an executive coach.
