Tech initiative contributes to award-winning achievement in N.C. district

Officials with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district in North Carolina, which won the 2011 Broad Prize for Urban Education, attribute some of their recent gains in student achievement to the use of Texas Instruments' MathForward program. The program features technology tools to help teachers track individual students' progress and professional development that has helped with teacher retention in the district, officials said.
