Water infrastructure can be improved with P3s

The nation's water infrastructure is crumbling just as its roads are, writes Michael Deane, executive director of the National Association of Water Companies and former associate assistant administrator for water at the Environmental Protection Agency. But he notes that this sector has been helped by public-private partnerships and says that a bipartisan group of lawmakers is at work to "remove limitations on tax-exempt private activity bonds." This could increase investment in water needs by $5 billion a year and make for more public-private partnerships, according to Deane.
