The Sunnyside Unified School District in Tucson, Ariz., will begin using a series of hands-on tests and projects to identify students from underrepresented populations for a special summer program focused on science, technology, engineering and math. The effort is part of a three-year program with the University of Arizona's Bio5 Institute. "We want to find kids who may fall through the cracks," said Jan Vesely, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction.
