EHR incentives exceed $16.5B in Sept.

The CMS has released more than $16.5 billion in EHR incentive payments to qualified hospitals and providers as of September. "We will continue to see an upward trend of these numbers as we move into January and February," said Rob Anthony, deputy director of the CMS' Office of E-health Standards and Services. According to CMS data, the agency has made incentive payments for either meaningful use or adopting, implementing or upgrading to certified EHR technology to 83% of eligible hospitals.
