Google moves to curb nonregistered Chrome extensions

Google says it will begin blocking any Chrome extensions downloaded by Windows users from sources other than the Chrome Web Store as a way to reduce malware. Developers who have not yet registered their extensions with the store can pay a fee to do so, the company noted. Developers will still be able to perform local extension installations.
