Many users will trade private info for discounts, study shows

Forty-one percent of consumers would allow their information to be shared by marketers in exchange for savings on a product or service, according to a survey by Etailing Solutions. Still, 90% of Internet users have taken proactive steps to protect their data, and 35% have discontinued doing business with a company over privacy concerns, according to a Harris Interactive survey for TRUSTe.
