School districts push back against pressure to cut recess

While some school districts nationwide are trimming time for recess in favor of academics, a growing number of districts are pushing back against this trend -- citing research showing the importance of play and physical activity in educating the whole child. Some schools are making this happen by partnering with Playworks, a nonprofit that works with schools in low-income neighborhoods nationwide.
