Southwest permitted to file "friend of the court" brief in merger case

Southwest Airlines has received permission to file a "friend of the court" brief in the US Airways-American Airlines antitrust trial. Southwest wants to show "particularly how the impact of the proposed merger on service at DCA and LGA should be viewed under Section 7 of the Clayton Act," the carrier wrote in its filing.
