Students pay tribute to veterans with school ceremonies

Students across the U.S. are honoring the men and women who have served in the United States military. Nearly 1,100 students at Northeast Middle School in Clarksville, Tenn., attended a ceremony Thursday along with members of military and the mayor. Elementary-school students in Horseheads, N.Y., were visited at their school by 51 veterans. In Cheyenne, Wyo., elementary-school students marked Take a Vet to School Day by honoring local military veterans -- including Toni, a German shepherd who served as Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen's U.S. Army scout in Vietnam in the early 1970s.
