Study: Many elderly HCV patients don't receive treatment

An analysis of data from the Department of Veterans Affairs' Hepatitis C clinical registry showed many older patients are not receiving treatment after being diagnosed with hepatitis C. Out of 128,769 veterans diagnosed with the condition, only 24.3% received antiviral therapy and only 16.4% of these treated patients (only 4% of the total group) had undetectable virus levels later on. The findings appeared in JAMA Internal Medicine.
