Ego-crazed, pushy bosses of reality TV give insight to media culture

Why are there suddenly so many outrageous reality TV shows that feature cutthroat competitors in a "workplace" setting competing for the attention of grandiose bosses? Perhaps because these shows don't seem all that outrageous to the programming executives who create them, writes a New York Times media watcher. The creators of such shows as "The Apprentice," "My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss" and "I Hate who live in fear of pleasing demanding bosses such as Rupert Murdoch of Fox, Michael D. Eisner of Disney and Bob Wright of NBC Universal.
