Nearly half of Washington students haven't passed math exit test

About 29,000 -- or 42% -- of Washington state's Class of 2008 have yet to pass the math section of the state Assessment of Student Learning exam, although they may retake the test as early as next spring. State schools chief Terry Bergeson plans to ask the state for more funding for math curriculum revisions, teacher training and math coaches for secondary schools.
