Philly schools chief plans $175 million in cuts over 2 years

Philadelphia schools CEO Paul Vallas unveiled a plan Wednesday to eliminate a $73.3 million deficit and restore the district's financial health that involves cutting nearly 150 administrative positions, trimming funds for outside school managers by 10% and reducing money for desegregation busing, among other moves. City officials and members of the public reacted angrily to his proposal.
