Editorial: Government must reach out to Md. small businesses

The U.S. Senate will be voting on legislation to level the federal contract playing field for small businesses, but the Baltimore Sun believes other considerations should be made in light of contract opportunities relating to military base realignments and closures in Maryland. State officials need to expand federal contracting workshops to include minority business owners. Private developers working on bases should be obligated to include small businesses in their deals, according to the Sun's editorial staff.
