Heart pump transplant successful in 8-month-old in Utah

Doctors at Primary Children's Medical Center in Utah have successfully implanted the experimental Berlin Heart pump in an 8-month-old with a diseased heart, the youngest patient in the state to receive such a device. The German-manufactured heart pump still is undergoing tests in the U.S., but was approved by the FDA for emergency compassionate use.
