AHA: 2007 brought record profits for U.S. hospitals

Community hospitals posted $43 billion more in revenue in 2007, the biggest one-year jump in profit margins in 15 or more years, according to the American Hospital Association. Although community hospital expenses grew to $583 billion, revenue also increased to $626 billion, creating an overall profit margin of 6.9% for the year.
