Google will acquire mobile-ad startup AdMob

Google is making a $750 million bet on the future of mobile display advertising with the acquisition of AdMob, a startup that specializes in selling ads that are optimized for mobile display -- including on Apple's popular iPhone. The acquisition, the third-richest in Google's history, gives the search giant a leg up on competitors in the burgeoning field of mobile advertising.
