Nutritionists say the first step in adopting a vegetarian diet plan for children is to learn how to meet nutrition needs through nonmeat sources. Parents should focus on providing vegetarian children with enough protein, omega-3 fatty acids, iron, zinc, iodine, calcium, and vitamins D and B-12.
