New oil-transportation ventures to drive up production in N.D. next year

A pipeline-expansion project and the scheduled startup of a shipping station near Stanley, N.D., could boost the state's production of more than 230,000 barrels per day by another 50% in 2010, state regulators and industry officials said. If oil prices remain higher than $60 a barrel, the state could be generating up to 400,000 barrels of oil per day over the next five years, said Lynn Helms, director of the state Department of Mineral Resources.
