More time is needed to review drilling applications, feds says

The government will continue taking its time to review deepwater-drilling permit applications, the Obama administration said. This comes in response to Ensco Offshore, which said that no permits have been approved since the federal moratorium on deepwater drilling ended last month. The government said it must make sure that permit requests meet rules that were implemented after the Gulf of Mexico spill.
