A new, younger generation of golf players

Since its inception earlier this year, "1000 1st Swings" has seen more than 1,000 kids take a swing on the Village Green golf course. The program, based in Chicago, removes cost barriers by providing free clubs and range balls to children. Brandon Evans, the Village Greens general manager who spearheaded the program, said he had learned to appreciate the game at a young age while playing with a neighbor, and was inspired to help the area's youth do the same.
