Small-business owners growing more optimistic, data show

Small-business optimism ticked upward for the third month in a row but remains at recessionary levels, according to data from the National Federation of Independent Business. NFIB's optimism index rose 2.7 points to 91.7 in October, the highest level in five months. The October increase is "not a huge move, but at least a decent jump, perhaps anticipating an acceleration in economic activity or a change in the 'management team' after the election," said NFIB's William Dunkelberg.
