Amidst all the warnings of cramped flights and cranky fliers during the upcoming holidays, some travel experts point out that air travel is experiencing a sort of Golden Age, with passengers enjoying lower fares, safer planes and more choices than ever before. The so-called "Good Old Days" never existed, according to aviation writer Greg Lindsay. "We imagine the space and what not, but seats weren't as good. The meals weren't that great. We had no seatback video. And we were paying thousands of dollars per ticket. These are the things we sort of forget -- or never experienced, because we're too young."
