Consumers should select leaf blowers by taking into consideration the size of their yard and the components of the equipment, according to two sales managers of power equipment shops. Hand-held leaf blowers are appropriate for use on residential properties, while homeowners who have 300 feet of driveway should use push blowers, said Mark Heyd of Morrison's Power Equipment in Plymouth, Mass. Meanwhile, those who would like to buy leaf blowers that also function as a vacuum should choose models that are made with two filters and with metallic blades because these are more efficient, according to Bill Smith of Stewart's Power Equipment in Holbrook, Mass.
