Airlines paid $2.92 a gallon for fuel in September, DOT says

The Department of Transportation said U.S. airlines faced fuel-price increases of 33% in September. According to the department's Bureau of Transportation Statistics, airlines paid an average of $2.92 a gallon for fuel in September. In the same month last year, airlines paid an average of $2.19 a gallon.
