Euromonitor sees growing chocolate demand in China

Retail sales of chocolate in China grew 9% last year, according to Euromonitor, as consumers grow wealthier and develop a taste for chocolate as they gain exposure to Western influences. The confectionery market has grown about 20% since 2008 and demand is expected to keep growing, but building factories in China can involve considerable red tape, said a Euromonitor analyst.
