New drug may kill fat cells, monkey study finds

An experimental drug kills fat cells by destroying their blood circulation and resulted in obese monkeys losing about 11% of their body weight in just less than two months. Skeptics point out that there are likely unknown, long-term side effects of such a massive die-off of fat cells and they wonder whether the weight stays off.
