NRC calls for integration of EHR and molecular data

The massive amount of data stored in EHR systems can be used to advance biomedical research and boost outcomes for patients with diabetes, heart disease and cancer, the National Research Council said in a report. The NRC proposes setting up a network that combines data on the molecular composition of diseases with clinical information from EHRs.
