Study connects excess sitting to pericardial fat buildup

Researchers looked at CT scan data on 504 older Americans and found that prolonged sitting was significantly linked to buildup of pericardial fat around the heart, even among those who exercise regularly. The size of the area of fat deposited around the heart increased the more time a person spent sitting. The study was presented at the American Heart Association meeting.
