Barilla to take on Atkins

Barilla entered the U.S. less than 10 years ago and through aggressive marketing and distribution quickly took over the top spot in pasta sales nationwide. In February, the company will co-sponsor a conference in Rome that will seek to debunk the popularity of the Atkins diet and other low-carb programs, saying the nutritional advice of such plans "defies common sense."
