Activists in Arizona say they believe they were able to become the first to defeat a marriage ban by sticking to the message that it would take away rights from all domestic partners -- straight and gay -- a strategy in sync with the state's libertarian-oriented voters. "We knew all along that when voters understood what this initiative would do to thousands of Arizona families across the state they were opposed to it," said Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Phoenix, chairwoman of the Arizona Together campaign.
