Small hospitals join to share cost of e-records system

Nineteen hospitals in Kansas and one in Nebraska will use a single computer infrastructure to take their medical records online. The small hospitals are using loan money from the nonprofit Great Plains Health Alliance to create a digital system that connects them and ultimately will allow them to communicate with larger regional medical centers. Working together allows the hospitals to share technology startup costs and overcome barriers to adopting e-records.
