Visa waiver expansion to boost foreign visits to U.S.

For the first time in nearly a decade, the federal government is poised to expand the list of countries whose citizens can visit the U.S. without enduring the arduous visa-application process. South Korea and six Eastern European countries will be added to the visa waiver list, which already includes the U.K., France, Japan and 24 other allies. Several South Korean airlines already have announced expanded service to the U.S. as annual tourist visits are expected to increase from 800,000 to 1.8 million.
