China to open refinery amid plant closures in the U.S.

As refineries and chemical plants in the U.S. are shutting down because of weak demand, ExxonMobil is set to launch today its $5 billion refining and chemical complex in China's Fujian province. ExxonMobil partnered with Saudi Aramco, Sinopec and the Fujian government to complete the plant, which is expected to help address the growing energy needs of China's population.
