Placing outdoor plants in a sheltered spot will help them survive the chilly winter months, writes Cassie Banning. She suggests packing the plants as close together as possible and covering them when it begins to freeze consistently. "Cover them just before the weather turns, so that their roots are nice and insulated (not cooking)," she explains.
