Rivers Casino agrees to payment plan for Pittsburgh arena

The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh agreed to make payments of $7.5 million per year to the Consol Energy Center, the future home of the Pittsburgh Penguins that is under construction. Holdings Acquisition Co., the owner of the casino, had balked at the payments until the Gaming Control Board threatened sanctions. The casino's owners had maintained that the first payment was not due until next year but have now agreed to make two payments per year for 30 years.
