UDR Inc. has made extensive use of technology to deal with its customers because that's what customers want, said Tom Toomey, the apartment REIT's president and CEO. "The vast majority of our customers are 25 to 35," he said. They have embraced technology and the Internet as a "convenience mode," a way of doing business that suits them, he said. "They want to do all of their business at the time they want to do it, on the terms they want to do it."
