Tourism at a range of unusual destinations is on the rise as more travelers look for distinctive ways to spend their holiday. Beneficiaries of the trend include the island of Socotra, home to hundreds of rare plants and animals, including the Dragon's Blood Trees. Other unusual destinations on this list include Takstang Monastery in the Kingdom of Bhutan, the pointed straw roofs of Dogon Buildings in Mali and the "surfing" hippos in Gabon.
