Go green or expect extreme energy-price hikes, warns IEA

The world will see energy prices become "viciously more expensive" if leaders fail to encourage investment in renewable-energy technologies, the International Energy Agency warns in a report. Global energy demand will increase 40% by 2035, the report predicts. "We cannot continue to rely on insecure and environmentally unsustainable uses of energy," said Maria van der Hoeven, the agency's executive director.
