Hartwig: Anti-ethanol editorial used outdated data

A Florida newspaper editorial about the state's efforts to do away with state tax incentives used outdated information, writes Matt Hartwig, the Renewable Fuel Association's director of communications. "American ethanol production ... supplied nearly 35 million metric tons of livestock feed. Contrary to assertions made by the Daily News' editorial board and others, ethanol does not take food away from the table. Rather, it turns the sugars in grain into renewable fuel while returning the remaining protein, vitamins, fiber and other nutrients to the feed market in a more valuable form than the corn kernel itself," Hartwig writes.
