Hot-dog eateries are hot in Los Angeles, as cash-strapped consumers seek to take comfort in food that's both affordable and familiar. Restaurant are putting their own gourmet twists on the tubular icon, but purists also can find authentic New York and Chicago-style dogs at joints including Coney Dog and Papaya King.
